Welcome to Carrera Bengal Cats, formerly known as "Rockymeountain
Bengal Cats".
When we started breeding in
2001, our cattery name was based on our location in the Rocky
Mountains of Southwestern Montana and had little to do with our goals
or visions. We've chosen to rename our cattery for the lovely Italian
Carrera Marble. Like our Marble Bengals, it is exotic and
beautiful.
When we first selected our
cats, we were drawn to the wild look of the Asian Leopard Cat and
sought out the best heads in the Bengal World. That led us to our
Mentor, Pamela Knowles, of the Cheetahsden. Pam is a wildlife
biologist and world renowned for her wild looking Bengal Cats.
With her help and guidance we
began our journey. Staying true to our passion we began to
consistently produce wild looking kittens with the essence of the
ancestors. Along the way, we met great friends and caught another
vision.
Never one to follow the crowd,
we fell in love with the Marble Bengal. Many felt that marbles were
"undesirable" and of less value that the traditional spotted Bengal
Cat.
We disagreed and joined forces
with fellow breeders to create Marbles unlike anything ever
seen before. We are incredibly thankful for their continued vision
and support.
We are very pleased with our
progress and have many champions to show for the effort we have put into careful planning and
selective breeding. We continue to strive for the most exotic
patterns; dramatically outlined, tri-colored and simply breathtaking.
We are excited about the
future of our program as we continue to produce dramatic, unique
Marble Bengal patterns.
We've recently relocated to beautiful South Florida and with that move have
come many changes.
We've kept only the very best
of our girls and boys to continue our vision. We are focusing on very
specific goals, and therefore will only be making a select few kittens
available each year.
As always, health and
temperament are paramount and a vital part of this vision.
We are currently incorporating
whited tummies, one of the most difficult of Bengal traits to produce
and hold. We are also working on tiny, rounded ears, another very difficult
trait to produce.
We look forward to the
challenge!
Please join us
on our journey as we strive to produce the ULTIMATE Bengal Cat.
