     Why a Marble Bengal?

One of the most amazing and exciting patterns being developed right now is the cutting edge Marble Bengal. Now, we are not talking about the typical bulls-eye, classic tabby cat marble pattern often seen but rather the chaotic bold patterns not seen in ordinary house cats.

Almost everyone wants a spotted or rosetted Bengal until they walk in and see one of our Marbles stalking through the house. Invariably we hear, "Now what kind of Bengal is THAT???" soon followed by, "I want a Marble! That is the MOST gorgeous cat I have EVER seen!" and off they go with a Marble kitten when they had been positive they wanted nothing less than a spotted!

(Please note that every snow bengal on this page is a blue eyed seal lynx point.)

Is there a goal for the Marbled Bengal?

For many of us there is! Most people start off wanting a Bengal for it's exotic Leopard looks. The Clouded Leopard is one of the smallest of the true leopards. It is rare and reclusive with the look we pattern many of our Marbles after. The other wild cat who's look we are striving to reproduce is the King Cheetah. It is a mutation of the tabby gene that gives these rare, spectacular Cheetahs their unusual marbled look. These two wonderful breeds of wild cats certainly don't have ordinary spots and rosettes but they CERTAINLY DO look exotic and wild!

Though a few claim to have already achieved the rare King Cheetah pattern, we feel that pictures speak volumes.

The truth is that the King Cheetah pattern is as rare in Marbled Bengals as it is in the wild. Though we see more elements of it with each season it is certainly still very much a work in progress. We hope you'll check back often and enjoy the journey with us!

Is there a Marbled Asian Leopard Cat?

No, there is not. In the wild, the closest think to a marble in the small cats are the very rare Marble cat, the Margay and some Ocelots. While we love these patterns we have chosen to strive for the looks of the Clouded Leopard and the King Cheetah. Because the Marble is a recognized and accepted pattern in the Bengal breed, we want it to look as wild and as unusual as possible and we feel these two patterns, (The Clouded Leopard and King Cheetah) bring an exciting element of the wild not seen before in a domestic cat.

Some of the top show and breeding cats in the world today are Marble Bengals! One of our most amazing girls, Tir Na Nog, is a Marble and she consistently produces kittens, both spotted and marbles, better and even more cutting edge than she is! We are very excited about our Marble Bengal program. We love the variations in pattern that we are seeing especially as we get more wild and exotic patterns with each passing season!
